Ryan Murphy has produced 22 television shows and somehow hasn’t cast Ashton Kutcher and Anthony Ramos. Ramos is so Murphy-coded that it’s almost criminal he hasn’t been inducted into the MCU (Murphy Cinematic Universe). But now, he’s not throwing away his shot by starring alongside Kutcher, Jeremy Pope, and Evan Peters in FX’s The Beauty. The series is co-created by Murphy and Matt Hodgson and, according to Deadline, will have 11 episodes for its first season. It’s executive produced by Murphy, Hodgson, Peters, Ramos, Pope, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Nissa Diederich, and Eric Gitter. Here’s everything we know about The Beauty and how it’ll be spreading to our televisions soon.
What’s The Beauty about?
While FX hasn’t given an official series synopsis, it’s based on the graphic novel by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. It’s set in a society where beauty can be achieved through a sexually transmitted disease. However, two detectives, Vaughn and Foster, soon discover there’s a high cost to becoming beautiful, like the lives of the people the disease infects, as it’s actually a government plot. The two will face corrupt politicians, vengeful federal agents, and a terrifying mercenary as they fight those who want a cure and those who don’t.
When does it start filming?
It reportedly starts filming sometime this Fall, so at least it won’t be competing with Murphy’s three other shows out right now.
