Grab a beer, chug said beer, then smash the can on your forehead. Okay, don’t actually do that, but do something with the same vibes because Jason Kelce just made his late-night hosting debut on January 4 with ESPN’s They Call It Late Night. But what’s the new gig all about? Football, of course. “It’s going to be a show about everything pro football. It’s a love letter in some ways to the sport I spent playing my whole professional career,” Kelce explained in the monologue. But what does a full on Kelce late night football talk show look like? Here’s everything that happened during the premiere episode of They Call It Late Night.
Who were the first guests?
For the first night, Kelce reminded us why the show is on ESPN. He was joined by NBA legend Charles Barkley, rapper/comedian Lil Dicky, and NFL analyst Brian Baldinger. However, those weren’t the only special guests to stop by. Eagles Hall of Fame player Harold Carmichael was serving up drinks at the special bar with a magical portal that helped connect Kelce with his friend, Jimmy Kimmel. His final special guest was the offensive line coach for the Eagles, Jeff Stoutland, who gave the crowd a pump-up speech for the night.
Was the rest of the Kelce family there, too?
Not only were they in attendance (Kelce’s parents were seated in the second row), they were a part of the show. Kelce introduced the show’s announcer Princess Kyanna, aka Kylie Kelce, as she held court from a special spot in the studio dubbed Kylie’s Corner. And yes, princesses do say the word “fuck,” at least in Philly.
How did the episode end?
I told you to grab a beer! Jason ends his first episode with a beer chugging contest with some fans and professional chuggers. What else would you expect from a man with a helmet golf cart?
I’m sold; how can we watch more?
It’ll be available weekly every Saturday on YouTube.
