Wie sind sie? – What are they like?
To describe family members, you need to know the third person forms of the verbs haben (to have) and sein (to be):
- er ist – he is
- sie ist – she is
- er hat – he has
- sie hat – she has
- sie sind – they are
- sie haben – they have
Use these forms with A word used to describe a person or thing., adjectival phrases, conjunctions and A word that adds intensity to another adjective, adverb or verb, eg 'very'. Intensifiers often have little meaning when used on their own. to create an accurate description.
