Parents

The words for your parents in Mandarin are quite simple:

Sisters and brothers
In Mandarin, there are two options for sister and two for brother, depending on whether they are older or younger than you.

In Mandarin, different words are used to describe the grandparents who are your father’s parents and the grandparents who are your mother’s parents.

Talking about your family

To ask about someone’s family in Mandarin, you can say:

To answer in Mandarin, you could say:

You can switch out four (Sorry, something went wrongCheck your connection, refresh the page and try again. sì) for any other number, eg one (Sorry, something went wrongCheck your connection, refresh the page and try again. yī), three (Sorry, something went wrongCheck your connection, refresh the page and try again. sān) etc except for ‘two’.
When you want to say you have two of something in Mandarin, you don’t use Sorry, something went wrongCheck your connection, refresh the page and try again. èr (two).
Instead, you use the Mandarin word Sorry, something went wrongCheck your connection, refresh the page and try again. liǎng.
