Timetables and schedules

Description

Miriam and Samad are due to meet their friend Ati at the airport, but the bus timetable is causing them big problems. Which bus should they catch so that they are not too early or too late to meet their friend? Al Gebra, Maths Crimes Private Detective, comes to the rescue, and explains how to choose the best bus to catch using the information given in the timetable.

Classroom Ideas

Use timetables to set problems like the one in the video which require working backwards through the timetable to ensure the correct departure time. Alternatively, set a problem which requires departing at a specific time and counting forward through the timetable to find the arrival time. A change of bus/train could be included to set a further challenge or even set the problem in the context of a flight which involves time-zone changes.
