Place value describes the position of a digit in a number. It also gives the value of each digit in a number.

Hundred squares, number lines, bundles of straws and tens and ones blocks can be really helpful for understanding place value.

They can show you what a number looks like, how big or small it is and even how it compares to other numbers.

There are lots of number patterns in Maths. There are odd numbers, even numbers, multiples, single-digit and two-digit numbers.
