Why am I seeing trailers on BBC iPlayer?

We show trailers on BBC iPlayer to tell you about programmes you might like.

When you start to play a programme on BBC iPlayer, a short trailer may start. If you like, you can skip the trailer at any time by clicking the Skip trailer button.

Trailers only play at the beginning of programmes, not when you pause and resume partway through. There are no trailers on programmes with Audio Description or Sign Language.
