    We've just heard from former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau via a post on X.

    "My heart goes out to the loved ones of all the victims of the tragic attack at the Lapu Lapu Festival in Vancouver," he writes.

    Canada's left-wing New Democratic Party says campaign events have been cancelled for the rest of the day following the incident in Vancouver.

    Party leader Jagmeet Singh will instead address the media later in the morning local time, the party says.

    UK's foreign minister David Lammy says he is shocked and deeply saddened by the event. "Our thoughts are with all of those affected, their families and loved ones."

    Ukraine’s foreign minister Andriy Sybiha sends condolences to the Canadian people. "We in Ukraine know the pain of loss. Our hearts go out to the victims loved ones."

    Czech Republic's foreign minister Jan Lipavský says the country "strongly condemns this horrific act of violence".

    She says she extends her deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of the attack.

    "A joyous celebration of Filipino culture, community and heritage ended in loss of life and serious injuries as a result of a horrific act."

    She also expresses gratitude to the first responders who rushed to the scene.

    "Your courage, dedication, and swift action in the face of such devastation are deeply appreciated," she says.

    We've just heard from Canada's Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre who says he knows many are "shocked, heartbroken and saddened by this "senseless act of violence".

    He says all Canadians are united in solidarity with the Filipino community in mourning the loss of these "treasured lives".

    Speaking from a church in Mississauga, Ontario, Poilievre adds the loved ones of those who lost their lives will have a "deep hole in their hearts today, and we will try and fill that with love.”

    We've also just learned that Mark Carney is now altering - not cancelling - his eve-of-election schedule as his country reacts to the shocking scenes in Vancouver.

    Carney’s voice appeared to crack as he described the warmth of the Filipino-Canadian community.

    His team confirmed that the PM has also spoken with British Columbia Premier David Eby, and has conveyed his condolences and offered the federal government’s full support.

    Carney says authorities have confirmed one person is in custody, and it's believed they acted alone.
