After working by appointment only out of an Upper East Side atelier, Jennifer Miller is finally opening a Manhattan store on December 9 (972 Lexington Ave., near 70th St.; 212-734-2299). Miller, who’s so far catered mainly to chic socialites—she already has a Southampton store—specializes in slightly altered versions of contemporary, classic, and estate jewelry (she also commissions pieces from other designers). The sparkling pint-size boutique features well-priced resin rings ($75–$195) and silver-and-faux-diamond bangles ($25), and for those who prefer the “real thing,” there’s an exquisite selection of fine pieces like a 60-inch fourteen-karat-gold-and-diamond chain for $61,000 (also in a cubic-zirconia version for $1,800). Handbags, shoes, and decorative home items round out the mix.
Other noteworthy openings: Over-the-top jewelry palace de Grisogono Geneva hits uptown on December 11 (824 Madison Ave., near 69th St.; 866-334-7476). After only three years, the ultraluxe house has established a strong celebrity following (Daryl Hannah of Kill Bill: Vol. 2 wore its baubles at the Cannes Film Festival). High rollers love the 118-carat black-diamond panther bracelet ($328,200). And Lori McLean’s cheery, festively colored enamel rings, bracelets, and earrings arrive in Greenwich Village on December 6 (49 Grove St., near Bleecker St.; 212-242-3204).
