
Up on Madison Avenue, it’s out with the Italian luxury shoes and in with the French luxury sweets, as the space formerly occupied by Santoni has given way to a branch of the Parisian pastry shop Maison Ladurée. The 149-year-old company’s macarons have such a fervent following that it’s not too much to say that the shaky cupcake hegemony of the past decade is once again feeling the heat (864 Madison Ave., nr. 71st St.; 646-558-3157).
