Since launching The Rug Company in 1997, Christopher and Suzanne Sharp have paired their handmade-carpet techniques with designs from A-listers like Paul Smith, Tom Dixon, and Diane Von Furstenberg. The boutique they opened in 2002 (88 Wooster St., nr. Spring St.; 212 274-0444) just got a face-lift, with thirteen-foot wooden doors leading up to a bigger 4,500-square-foot space. Rather than displaying a warehouse of unfurled carpets, the Sharps present each rug as it might appear at home—assuming home is an eighteenth-century English country manor.
