For this week’s Don’t Dillydally, we’ve rounded up a range of newly released products we’re particularly excited about, including a handsome Doc Marten ballet flat, some 3D printed lamps, and Brooklinen’s softest towels yet (potentially).
After a long wait, the Elphies are back. And while a Doc Marten ballet slipper sounds borderline oxymoronic, I think it works. Docs have definitely de-dainty-fied the silhouette, though, with signature sturdy leather and a rope tie-up (instead of ribbon). The flats feel like something that might appear in an aughts My Chemical Romance video or an HBO adaptation of The Secret History. Either way, particularly on the cherry-red ones, I’m sold. (They’re also available in iridescent pink, leopard print, and black Virginia leather).
F. Miller has been working on its Support Serum — which became available today — for two years. It aims to do all the good stuff: hydrate, smooth, restore elasticity, refine tone, and protect against environmental stressors. And the ingredients list is good: strengthening peptides, natural antioxidants, and centella asiatica (an anti-inflammatory I’ve found myself recommending a lot over the last couple of years).
Starface is branching out from pimple patches. The brand has expanded its line with Star Wash (a cleanser) and Star Cream (a moisturizer). Both products are heavy on the salicylic acid and hyaluronic acid; the cleanser also contains glycerin, while the cream contains niacinamide. With their bright bottles, simple ingredients, and affordable price point, it looks like Starface will be joining Byoma in the tween skin-care section.
Puma Speedcats — which have become fashion writer Ambar Pardilla’s new “wear everywhere and with everything,” sneakers — are available in two new colors: royal blue and pink blush. Emily Ratajkowski has already been spotted in the pink pair, and Puma just announced a collaboration with Liberaiders. They’ve sort of emerged from the dust of the Adidas Samba to dominate right now, it seems. Why not!
I’ve been counting down the days to the Bella Hadid x Frankies Bikinis collab. Now, the first drop (of three) is less than a week away on March 4. You can sign up to shop the drop an hour earlier than everyone else, and I recommend that you do: Across the 108-piece range of bikinis, co-ords, and accessories, I predict almost everything will sell out.
Peachy Den — the British brand beloved by Dua Lipa, Beabadoobee, Ruby Lyn, and Amelia Dimoldenberg— just released a vintage-inspired bowling bag for spring. It’s satisfyingly waxy and has sporty contrast stitching and piping. I can see this as sort of an everything bag: It has plenty of zippy pockets, enough room for a laptop, and is the right size to be a personal item when traveling.
You know the drill: If you live in a hard-water area (where just showering can dull your hair and cause breakouts), a shower filter is advised. Qure has a new one that filters out chlorine, limescale, and other irritants. It also has a toggle to switch between three flows — rainfall, massage, or heavy power — to tailor your shower to your preferences. As you need to replace the filter (and all shower filters) periodically, it works out to about $420 a year with a subscription — which is on the pricier side.
The Gapaissance continues. This collaboration with Harlem’s Fashion Row only further proves our point. Harlem’s Fashion Row is a fashion agency that connects designers of color with brands, and five different designers contributed a few pieces each to the drop. I particularly like the puffy yet structured shirts by N’gai, but I also spotted some nostalgic, candy-colored hoodies from BruceGlen.
For February, Wooj has three new lamps from designers Christopher Merchant, Walmen Dumaliang, and Jason Wu Bergeron. Each lamp is 3-D printed and made-to-order, meaning they’re ever so slightly unique to you.
Piglet bedding is known for its line of 100 percent linen sheets, but its new Tales of Aunt Rose collection is made from a linen blend of 55 percent European linen and 45 percent long-staple cotton. (The mix of cotton gives a softer feel.) As always, there’s lots of stripey, gingham-y options that look swiped from an English cottage. They always have great names, too, like the new Honey Gingham and Elderberry Pembroke.
In more swimwear news, Lands’ End and Andie released a limited-edition drop yesterday. Two floral designs are available in a flattering high-waisted bottom, bikini top, swimsuit, and swimdress. There’s also a sweet canvas tote with embroidered patches to take to the beach.
Brooklinen has reformulated its best-selling Classic towels, taking on customer feedback to make the 100 percent Turkish-cotton towels feel plusher and softer, while still absorbing water quickly. All the classic colors are back, as well as Brooklinen’s (rather good) bundle deal of two bath towels and two hand towels for under $100.
