The Three Amigos Can Be Yours for $100 Million

Three Amigos Join Forces: Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro González Iñárritu shop unprecedented five-picture slate to studios and equity funds. Slate includes one new film from each of the Amigos (including the first of Cuarón’s projected trilogy about his family), plus films from Carlos Cuarón and Rodrigo García. Universal is said to be lead suitor; other studios apparently thought the $100 million they usually spend on one crappy blockbuster was too much to spend on five awesome movies. [LAT]

Costner Swings: Kevin Costner will star in and produce indie comedy Swing Vote, about a single father who winds up casting the deciding vote in a presidential election. Joshua Michael Stern writes and directs. [Variety]

Levy an Overachiever: Alexandra Robbins’ book The Overachievers picked up by director Shawn Levy (A Night at the Museum) for Universal. Nonfiction follows top high-school seniors in Bethesda as they fight for top college spots. [HR]

Boredoms Bring Drums to Brooklyn: Boredoms will play free concert in Brooklyn Bridge Park July 7, featuring the band plus 77 drummers. Nothing livens up a beautiful summer’s day like 77 drummers playing Japaneses noise-rock. [Brooklyn Vegan]

Sunday London Stars to New York: Roundabout Theater Company’s mounting of Sunday in the Park With George casts Olivier-winning stars of London production. Daniel Evans and Jenna Russell were highly acclaimed for their performances in Menier Chocolate Factory revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s musical. [NYT]
