‘American Idol’: Dolly Parton Helps the Finalists Desecrate Her Songbook
Last night, show-business legend Dolly Parton followed in the holy footsteps of such pop luminaries as Barry Manilow, Jewel, and Fergie, acting as a celebrity mentor to a hapless bunch of American Idol finalists (plus the incomparable David Archuleta). The contestants sang songs made famous by Parton, though, save for Archuleta, no one managed to improve on the original. Hey, at least last night’s episode was only an hour long, right?
