Before you get Squid Game season three, you’ll have to shell out some extra cash to the top streaming service in the business. It’s almost an immersive experience, really. Ahead of Netflix’s fourth-quarter earnings call with investors, the streamer boasted its most impressive quarterly sign-up growth yet, as the company reached over 302 million subscribers worldwide and added 19 million new subs just in the last quarter alone. To go with the impressive stat, the company also announced price increases to most of its subscription tiers, including the first price hike for its ad-supported plan, which rolled out in 2022. To further support that ad-supported plan, Netflix debuted an Extra Member With Ads plan, allowing users with an ads plan to add additional members outside of their households to their account for an extra $6.99.
In a letter to its shareholders, Netflix explained the decision to “occasionally ask our members to pay a little more” as a way to “invest in programming and deliver more value for our members.” And yet, we can’t know when season three of Squid Game is coming. But starting today, subscribers in the U.S., Canada, Portugal, and Argentina will see new prices in their forthcoming bills coming if you have any of the following plans:
➽ Standard with Ads, $6.99 is now $7.99
➽ Standard, $15.49 is now $17.99
➽ Premium, $22.99 is now $24.99
➽ Extra Member, $7.99 is now $8.99
