Christian Bale: Man in Tights?
Bale Robbing the Rich: What Sir Ridley Scott wants, Sir Ridley Scott gets, and the guy wants Christian Bale to play Robin Hood in Nottingham. Not only that, but William Hurt and Vanessa Redgrave are in discussions to join the cast, as are half the senior class at Arcadia High School, apparently. None of this casting is final yet, but we love rumors almost as much as we love awkward high-school talent shows. [Daily Mail]
Rogue Finds Keeper: Rogue Pictures plonked down seven figures for Ehren Kruger’s script, The Keep, based on the Jennifer Egan novel by the same name. Matthew Stillman, whose most recent movie was Casino Royale, is producing, but are we wrong to worry that the Ehren Kruger version of The Keep will turn a thoroughly awesome novel into a hacktastic thriller with lots of prison sex scenes? Shins to Ditch Sub Pop?: The Shins are likely to join the revolution and self-release their fourth album through front man James Mercer’s label. According to their manager, they’d probably partner with Sub Pop only for pressing and distribution. This record-business announcement will change your life! [Billboard]
Woodard’s Worst Enemy: Emmy winner Alfre Woodard will star with Christian Slater in NBC’s spy series My Own Worst Enemy, about a suburban dad who is secretly a suave spy. Woodard will play the Slater’s boss at “Janus HQ,†and she’ll also have a suburban alter ego, presumably some sort of housewife who may or may not be desperate. [HR]
DreamWorks Gets Schooled: DreamWorks has bought Home Schooled, a comedy pitch from Beaujolais’s Mike Arnold and Chris Poole about a 30-year-old man who was homeschooled and is now starting college, thus further legitimizing “Stunted Man-child†as a comedy sub-genre. [HR]
