R. Kelly Actually Loses a Legal Case

Marilyn Perry’s Sea Foam (2007).

Shiny-domed R&B singer Ne-Yo has done the seemingly impossible — actually defeated R. Kelly in a court of law! As you may recall, Ne-Yo sued Kelly’s promotion team, Rowe Entertainment, after he was booted from his opening slot on last year’s Double Up tour just two shows in. At the time, the company’s Leonard Rowe claimed that Ne-Yo’s people didn’t have their shit together; there was no “fully executed contract,†or something, so to avoid potential trouble down the road, Ne-Yo had to go. Not the greatest call Leonard’s ever made, apparently, because Ne-Yo’s claim that he was really dropped for “outshining†Kellz (we know, we know … come on, dude) has, astonishingly, held up in court. An L.A. judge has awarded him $700,320 — not bad, considering Ne-Yo was originally supposed to get $785,000 for playing all 25 dates of the tour.
