Translation: …and perhaps beyond his ability to complete!
The Verdict: This new teaser for Gilliam’s supposedly forthcoming Heath Ledger movie is mostly a collection of concept art and half-rendered CGI (much of which seems cribbed from Gilliam’s other films) along with footage of the director in some sort of silk bathrobe, passionately reassuring us that The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus will be better than the rest of his recent filmography. We’ll admit the parts previewed here (fantastical cities! Flying jellyfish! Verne Troyer!) do look totally awesome. But what we don’t see is cause for alarm; when last we heard, filming on the movie was already half complete, so why no actual footage?
