The Killers, Day & Age
Official Release Date: November 24
The Verdict: Following widespread disappointment over 2006’s Springsteenian Sam’s Town (we liked it), the Killers have cleverly decided to follow it up with what sounds like, on a first listen, the finest album of their four-year-old career. Duran Duran keyboards, Joy Division bass lines, and David Bowie saxophone solos, plus a bunch of huge sing-along choruses that capably compensate for Brandon Flowers lyrics, all add up to a gloriously stinker-free collection that should yield at least as many singles as Hot Fuss. “Spaceman,” “Neon Tiger,” and “Joy Ride” alone should be enough to knock Chinese Democracy off your iTunes for a couple of hours this week.
