The Killers, Day & Age
Official Release Date: November 24
The Verdict: Following widespread disappointment over 2006’s Springsteenian Sam’s Town (we liked it), the Killers have cleverly decided to follow it up with what sounds like, on a first listen, the finest album of their four-year-old career. Duran Duran keyboards, Joy Division bass lines, and David Bowie saxophone solos, plus a bunch of huge sing-along choruses that capably compensate for Brandon Flowers lyrics, all add up to a gloriously stinker-free collection that should yield at least as many singles as Hot Fuss. “Spaceman,†“Neon Tiger,†and “Joy Ride†alone should be enough to knock Chinese Democracy off your iTunes for a couple of hours this week.
