baseless speculation

Who Will Play Bill Clinton in Peter Morgan’s New Blair-Clinton Movie?

This morning, screenwriter Peter Morgan announced the details of The Special Relationship, his directorial debut and the upcoming third film in his Tony Blair trilogy (the first two were The Deal and The Queen). The movie’s titular relationship will be the one between Blair and Bill Clinton between 1997 and 2000, and Michael Sheen will return to play the British prime minister — but who will play Clinton? Darrell Hammond? Frank Caliendo? Seth Rogen? Certainly nobody wants to see John Travolta try again. Since Michael Sheen looks practically nothing like Tony Blair, we suppose it’s not strictly necessary for an actor to look like the real-life Clinton, only that he be vaguely portly and in his early fifties. Maybe this is Alec Baldwin’s chance to do something with his life!
