DreamWorks Animation announced a 48 percent drop in third-quarter profits yesterday, which is understandable since they didn’t have a wildly successful movie still in theaters during that period in 2009, as they did in 2008 (Kung Fu Panda). Jeffrey Katzenberg also said the studio will not make a sequel to Monsters vs. Aliens, which earned nearly $200 million domestically, because of crappy grosses overseas: “There was enough of a consensus from our distribution and marketing folks in certain parts of the world that we would be pushing a boulder up a hill.†[LAT]
