Johnny Depp to Possibly Take a Vacation

Tourist Trap: Johnny Depp is taking a look at the title role in The Tourist, playing an American who gets wrapped up with an Interpol agent, played by Angelina Jolie, on the hunt for her ex-lover. Depp would replace Sam Worthington, who dropped out over creative differences. Director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck has also left the film, with Alfonso Cuaron in talks to take over. [Variety]

Weight Watchers: Zach Galifianakis has been approached about the part of Humpty Dumpty in Puss and Boots, the Shrek spinoff featuring Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas, which is like a nice, Hollywood way of suggesting that he needs to lose weight. [HR]

Method Acting: Grace Gummer will break into the world of acting, starring in a television drama for Nickelodeon about being a kid in Hollywood. It won’t be too much of a stretch for Gummer, though: Her mom is Meryl Streep. [HR]

The Old Man: Anthony Hopkins and Annette Bening have signed on to Andy Garcia’s Hemingway and Fuentes — he as Hemingway and she as the author’s third wife. Garcia, who will play Gregorio Fuentes, Hemingway’s buddy and fishing-boat captain, wrote the script with Hemingway’s granddaughter about the author’s time chasing marlin and falling in love in Cuba toward the end of his life, the inspiration for The Old Man and the Sea. Glass Ceiling: Mario Lopez is so hot right now. Just when we thought A.C. Slater had his fifteen minutes, grown-up Lopez was explosive on Dancing With the Stars. Then somehow he landed the host spot on Extra. Now, with nowhere to go but down, he’s been signed to host this year’s Miss America pageant in Vegas. [HR]
