Demi Moore Wants Miley Cyrus to Pull Herself Away From That Computer

Aww Mom: Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore are in talks to star in the English-language remake of French hit L.O.L.: Laughing Out Loud. Original writer and director Lisa Azuelos-Alessandrin will handle those duties for the remake of the film, which is about a 15-year-old girl who gets dumped by her boyfriend and decides to go after his best friend. Meanwhile, her recently divorced mother is trying to get over her own relationship issues. Then it gets good: “The fraught relationship between mother and daughter provides the film with its narrative backbone, along with the younger generation’s obsession with instant messaging.†You just just OMGed, didn’t you? Cold One: Mel Gibson is serious about this comeback thing. He’s now in negotiations to reteam with Lethal Weapon writer Shane Black for Cold Warrior, a spy thriller from Universal. The story centers on a Cold War spy who comes out of retirement to team up with a younger agent as they face off against Russian terrorists. And it’s about time. Hollywood needs more Russian terrorists. [THR]

Hunting Season: Charlize Theron and David Fincher have come together to develop a drama for HBO. Mind Hunter will revolve around the investigation of serial killers. Scott Buck, an executive producer of Dexter, is writing the project, using the book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit as inspiration. Fincher and Theron will executive produce and have creepy late-night discussions about their serial killer obsessions. [Variety]

Tax Man: Fox has given the greenlight to a workplace-based sitcom pilot from Ron Howard. Written by Brent Forrester, a veteran of The Office, the show is about an IRS district office. Forrester says it is modeled on Taxi, with a group of wacky characters and straight man at the center. We just want Ron Howard to narrate. That portends good things. [THR]

God Is Good: Jeff Daniels is making a return to the Broadway production God of Carnage, but not in the role he played when the show first opened. Instead, Daniels will play the character first played by James Gandolfini. Lucy Liu, making her Broadway debut, will join Daniels, Janet McTeer and Dylan Baker in the show on March 3rd.
