Bigelow Wins DGA Award; Brangelina Shows

Bigelow accepts her award.

Kathryn Bigelow took home the Directors Guild of America’s award for helming The Hurt Locker at last night’s Los Angeles ceremony. This makes her the first woman to ever win the accolade, which is considered a huge predictor for the Oscar. (The Academy Award for directing has only differed with the DGA six times since 1948.) We mention all of this right up top because her triumph will likely be eclipsed by the news that oh my God, Brangelina showed up! And they spent the night rubbing each other’s backs and whispering to each other! Rubbing backs! Whispering! And assuming they weren’t whispering, “See this back that I’m rubbing? I hate it, nearly as much as I hate your front!â€, this could mean the break-up rumors are false. THE BREAK-UP RUMORS ARE FALSE! TRUE LOVE REIGNS!

There was no asking Pitt about this, as before he appeared in the press room for photos, the reporters were given a ten-minute speech about how no questions would be allowed, and if anyone spoke in a remotely inquisitive tone, they would be banished from the room. So we have no answers there, but we do have a few other winners who don’t have a chance of attention after all this Brangelina business: Ross Katz (Taking Chance) won for TV Movie/Miniseries, Louie Psihoyos (The Cove) for documentary, Leslie Linka Glatter (Mad Men’s “Guy Walks into an Advertising Agency†episode) for dramatic TV series, Jason Winer (the Modern Family pilot) for comedy TV series, and the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Norman Jewison (Moonstruck, In the Heat of the Night).
