The competition between makers of Spring Awakening to collaborate on the craziest follow-up just got intense. If you thought Awakening director Michael Mayer’s participation in Green Day’s American Idiot musical was hilarious, then you should enjoy today’s news about Awakening composer Duncan Sheik signing on to write the eighties-style music for the upcoming American Psycho musical (based on Bret Easton Ellis’s book about a Phil Collins–loving Wall Street serial killer). Variety says Big Love scribe Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will write the book. No production time line has been formalized, though we expect to hear about a closing date soon.
