While Meryl Streep, her main competitor for tonight’s Best Actress Oscar prize, was probably sipping Chardonnay and laughing at a fabulous story on a terrace somewhere last night, Sandra Bullock was accepting a Razzie. Bullock — whom New York film critic David Edelstein adores; read his take on the awards here — gamely appeared in person to take her award for Worst Actress for All About Steve.
She arrived to pick up her trophy with a wagon filled with All About Steve DVDs for the audience members, most of whom she presumed hadn’t even seen the film.
Bullock had previously stated she would show up in person to take the award, further proof, she said, that “all you have to do is show up and you get an award.â€
“This is the deal we are going to make,†she said. “You promise to watch the movie and really consider whether it was really and truly the worst performance. If you are willing to watch it, I will come back next year and give back the Razzie.â€

If Bullock does win Best Actress at the Oscars tonight for The Blind Side, she would be the first actress to win both an Oscar and a Razzie in the same year.
