Exciting news! The four members of Blur will take a short break from their opera-writing, political-office-seeking, and cheese-making to record their first single in seven years. The release — a seven-inch vinyl record containing two brand-new tracks — is ostensibly a promotion for April 17’s Record Store Day, though if the band cared so much about independent record stores they’d probably press more than 1,000 copies (that’s how many will be available) or just record an album (which they currently have no plans to do, says the Telegraph). No further details are available, but let us hope both songs are better than Blur’s last single, 2003’s deceptively titled “Good Song†(it was fair), and that one of the thousand people who buys this thing knows how to make MP3s from vinyl.
