ABC may be giving its new cop drama Detroit 1-8-7 a very high-profile time slot, or at the very least, a historic one. Vulture hears that the network is expected to air the cop hour Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. â the same time slot where the Alphabet once let Dennis Franz bare his behind in NYPD Blue. Detroit features former Soprano Michael Imperioli (no word yet on his bare ass), and itâs being shot documentary-style. So itâs Modern Family, but with cops!
We donât know what will lead into Detroit, since Lost now airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. and will soon be no more. But perhaps this is a sign ABC is planning to put some comedies in the 9 p.m. Tuesday hour, since theyâd work well as a lead-in to the funny-serious Detroit. They certainly did back in the nineties, when they led into Blue with a powerful comedy block.
Look for ABCâs full schedule around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
