Abrams’s Bad Robot has picked up the rights to Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel, a movie adaptation of the graphic novel by Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett about a robot in the Victorian Age. Boilerplate follows the “world’s first robot,†who - get ready - “in the late 19th and early 20th centuries… fought alongside Teddy Roosevelt and Lawrence of Arabia, journeyed to the South Pole and was involved in the silent movie business before disappearing on the battlefields of World War I.†[Heat Vision/HR]

He finds himself in a “government conspiracy†and is forced to “unravel his father’s darkest secret†to save the family. One more of these Vacation Gone Wrong flicks and we’ve got a trend, guys. L.A. Bound: Corey Stoll (Salt) has scored the detective co-starring role opposite Skeet Ulrich in NBC’s upcoming Law & Order: Los Angeles.
