The MPAA has decided that Mel Gibson’s now besmirched comeback movie The Beaver is appropriate for teenagers, awarding the Jodie Foster-directed film a PG-13 rating “For mature thematic material, some disturbing content, sexuality and language including a drug reference.†(Add cursing and panting, and you have a fairly accurate description of the Mel Gibson tapes, though, obviously, those come with an R-rating.) This gives Summit Entertainment a sixth option for releasing the film: marketing it to families! “The Beaver is fun for the whole family. See it with mom, dad, bro, and lil’ sis, because nothing brings everyone together like watching a crazy guy talk to a hand puppet!†[Rope of Silicon via Movieline]
