The 20-year-old phenom will follow up her Grammy-winning Fearless with Speak Now, which will be released October 25. Swift made the announcement in a live web chat Tuesday afternoon in which she explained the title “pertains to the album as a concept, and as an entire theme of the record, more than I can even tell you.†First single “Mine,†which will be out in mid-August, sounds like it will stick closely to the Taylor Swift template: “[It’s about] my tendency to run from love. It’s a recent tendency. Every example of love in my life has ended in goodbye. The song is about finding the exception to that.â€
Swift explained that she’s been writing nonstop since Fearless was released: “… In the past two years I’ve experienced a lot of things that I’ve been dying to write about. A lot of things that I’ve wanted to say in the moment that I didn’t… Track by track, each song is a different confession to a different person.†We’ll have to wait for the tracklist to see if “Dear Kanye (Imma Finish Right Now)†makes the cut.
