The Carson Entertainment Group is announcing a campaign today to make footage from Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show more accessible. It includes the new johnnycarson.com, which will feature a selection of 40 to 60 show highlights updated regularly; licensing.johnnycarson.com, a service for media companies looking to license show clips, which includes pretty much everything from 1973 to 1992 (the first ten years of Carson weren’t as dutifully preserved); and a DVD collection, details of which will be announced later this year. The downside to renewed access to classic Carson material: This might make Conan sad about losing The Tonight Show all over again. [NYT]
