You can see why an embattled star like Tom Cruise might be nostalgic for the eighties, and New Line is counting on it: The studio has offered him a supporting role in the big-screen adaptation of the eighties-celebrating jukebox musical Rock of Ages. If he accepts, Cruise would play a bartender (also very Tom Cruise in the eighties!) and get to belt out a few of the musical’s hair-band classics.
