It looks like 9:30 p.m. Wednesday is now officially ABC’s time slot for comedies starring former Friends: Currently home to Courteney Cox’s awesome Cougar Town, the Alphabet has just announced that Matthew Perry’s new sitcom Mr. Sunshine will take over the plum post–Modern Family slot for nine weeks starting February 9. So what happens to Cougar Town? No worries: It’s just taking a breather and will return to Wednesdays for the remainder of its season in mid-April. Meanwhile, ABC has decided to join NBC and supersize its Wednesday comedy block this spring: Starting April 13, ABC will air new comedy Happy Endings at 10 p.m., with a “fan favorite†episode of Modern Family at 10:30 p.m. Shonda Rhimes’s new medical drama Off the Map, which debuts in the 10 p.m. Wednesday slot next month, will have wrapped its run by then.
