ABC Adds Another Reality Show to Its Schedule

ABC has gotten a big ratings bump this month running reality show Winter Wipeout in the 8 p.m. Thursday time slot recently vacated by Survivor. Now it looks like it’s going to stick with unscripted there for a little bit longer. ABC quietly expanded Wipeout’s winter run by four episodes last week (it’ll run until March), and today the network is set to announce that its long-gestating Take the Money and Run will get a six-week run on Thursdays starting April 14. Money, green-lit last spring under the title Catch Me, is an Amazing Race– style competition with some elements of CSI that has contestants trying to get away with fake crimes while racing around in pairs. It’s not a complete rip-off, though, since the show is being produced by Race gurus Jerry Bruckheimer and Bert Van Munster. ABC is suddenly big on racing shows: It’s also planning to launch the Mark Burnett–produced Expedition Impossible later this year. Meanwhile, ABC’s online advance program schedule now has the Burnett-produced Shark Tank returning to the air Friday, March 25 at 8 p.m. (a fact first tweeted by sitcomsonline).
