They’ve already done The Simpsons, and now the Glee gang is making a cross-promotional visit to another Fox animated mainstay, The Cleveland Show. Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison, and a trio of McKinley High students (Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, and Cory Monteith) will lend their voices to this Sunday’s episode of Cleveland (now airing at 9:30 p.m.). Vulture has the first look at the MacFarlane-ized New Directions in this official “cast photo†for the episode, and a clip after the jump.
Cleveland show-runner Rich Appel tells us the quick scene was shot around a year ago, just as Glee was starting to explode with viewers. “If I had known what a phenomenon the show was going to become, I would have had Lea Michele do more than sing one long note,†laments Appel. The producer says Michele gamely riffed on a slew of different songs just so he could “find one great note†to use in the scene. The Glee folk appear in a cutaway in which Cleveland is having troubles being a dad to Roberta; the MHS students appear to him as a model for how children should behave. Apparently Cleveland didn’t see Glee’s Britney Spears episode.
