Entourage creator Doug Ellin is doing a pilot for HBO called 40 that will “focus on a group of male friends navigating life in a slightly older age bracket.†So basically an unfamous, older Entourage? He’s already got Ed Burns on board, too! I look forward to seeing the plot lines that they come up with, including:
-They all have impossibly attractive wives that they always complain about, except for one of them who is a permanent bachelor.
-Ed Burns’ character seems signed on to do a project, but then it seems like it’s in jeopardy, but everything works out in the end.
-A really obnoxious outsider from their past comes into the group and seems like he will ruin everything but then conveniently disappears and it results in no long-term consequences.
-The single guy tries to beat back the effects of aging with ridiculous workouts and cosmetic surgery.
-There’s an abrasive-yet-lovable lawyer character who helps the guys out whenever they need advice.
-There are fights within the crew that never result in long-term consequences.
-A notable actor who hasn’t been in any movies in a couple of years swings through town.
-Ed Burns’ character dates a porn star.
