Mark it down on your calendars: The eternally busy James Franco (whose 2011 slate includes promoting Rise of the Apes, Maladies, Your Highness, and The Broken Tower, shooting The Iceman and Oz, the Great and Powerful, recording an album, and going to school) has finally reached a tipping point where he’s too overscheduled. JustJared reports that in order to shoot Oz, the actor has had to drop out of Noah Baumbach’s While We’re Young, in which he was to play one-half of a Brooklyn hipster couple who inspires Ben Stiller and his wife to live more dangerously. Cate Blanchett (who was circling the role of Stiller’s spouse) has also had to withdraw from the film; on the plus side, there are now a whole lot of inevitable Indie Spirit nominations available for whoever wants them.
