The Cabin in the Woods, a horror movie co-written by Joss Whedon and Cloverfield’s Drew Goddard, was initially scheduled to be released way back in October 2009 by MGM. Co-starring Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, and the then no one, now Thor Chris Hemsworth, the movie was pulled from that date, and then didn’t get released because of MGM’s financial troubles. Hoping to capitalize on Hemsworth’s new box-office power, Lionsgate is now stepping in to distribute the movie, giving the rest of us an opportunity to hear some Whedon dialogue and to see, comparatively, just how bulked up Hemsworth got for his part as a Norse god.
