Steven Spielberg’s long been attached to the idea of casting Sally Field in a biopic of Abraham Lincoln, and even had her set to play Lincoln’s wife, Mary Todd, in a years-ago version of the project that would have starred Liam Neeson. Now, with Lincoln ready to shoot this fall with Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role, Spielberg has confirmed in a press release that Field will still play Mary Todd. It’s a casting coup for the 64-year-old Field: Though the real-life Mary Todd was nine years younger than her husband, Field is eleven years older than Day-Lewis and almost twenty years older than Mary Todd was when she became First Lady. Needless to say, all that Boniva is definitely working out for her.
