The Mona Lisa, so hot all of a sudden! Leonardo da Vinci’s famously enigmatic painting found itself in the headlines earlier this year when Italian television producer Silvano Vinceti claimed the model for it was a man; now, Vinceti says he’s going to dig up the bones of Lisa Gherardini, the woman previously assumed to be the painting’s muse, to prove whether or not she truly was the Mona Lisa. It should be noted that Vinceti also claimed in January that he was going to exhume the corpse of da Vinci himself, so apparently you’re allowed to do anything you want to graves in Italy, as long as it’s crazy enough. Good policy! [ArtsBeat/NYT]
