Even though he’s busy directing roughly eight thousand movies a year (give or take), Steven Soderbergh still has time to read more books than you do. That’s the main takeaway from a fascinating list Soderbergh made about his pop culture habits over the past year, where each day, he jotted down every single movie, TV show, book or play he consumed. For example: Soderbergh watched The Social Network four times before it was released into theaters (including one surely schizophrenic May day where two screenings bookended Tommy Wiseau’s cult classic The Room), steadily made his way through at least one season of Breaking Bad, and spent Christmas with a double feature of Inside Job and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. (He also managed to wolf down Steve Martin’s novel An Object of Beauty on February 3, the same day he was slapped with a paternity suit. Impressive resolve!) [WNYC via Kottke]
