Steve Martin is among the victims of what might be Germany’s biggest art-forgery scandal ever. Martin, who has not been accused of any wrongdoing (oy, don’t even think it), spent about $850,000 in 2004 for what he thought was a 1915 painting by German-Dutch modernist Heinrich Campendonk. He later took a $200,000 loss when he resold the painting in 2006, and now it turns out the painting was a forgery the whole time. The piece, Landscape With Horses, is allegedly of the many fakes linked to a German forger and his associates. Curse you, fake Campendonks! [Der Spiegel]
