The CW premiered the trailer for Sarah Michelle Gellar’s new series Ringer at San Diego Comic-Con on Tuesday. Gellar, miraculously, hasn’t aged a day since Buffy ended, we must note. Anyhow, SMG fans have things to be excited about. In the promo, Gellar seems tough as ever, part Kathryn from Cruel Intentions, part high-school era Buffy. (“No one can protect me,†she coos.) The series follows a troubled woman named Bridget – a “broke, helpless addict/prostitute,†according to the text – as she assumes the identity of her twin, Siobhan – a “schemer/murderer†with a “nearly perfect life†– after Siobhan allegedly kills herself. Even though Siobhan wore scarves and owned a boat, she had secrets that Bridget only discovers after pretending to be her. There are a bunch of handsome, interchangeable guys in the picture, too, including Siobhan’s husband and her lover – who are both now making love to Bridget, unbeknownst to them, we think. In any case, the trailer’s super-soapy! It’s sort of ridiculous, and we’re intrigued.
