Louis C.K. on His Emmy Nominations: ā€˜IĀ personally donā€™t need it. Iā€™ve already won.ā€™

According to his Q & A with Deadline, Louis C.K.ā€™s Emmy nominations for Louie are a pleasant surprise, without all that faux humble garbage that people are always trying to pull.ā€Well yeah, the Emmy thing, thatā€™sĀ just crazy,ā€ C.K. explains. ā€œI was honestly expecting nothing. Actually thatā€™s not entirelyĀ true. I thought maybe Iā€™d get something for writing the special. But theĀ nominations for the FX series, I had no idea these voters were even aware ofĀ it. Yet now that itā€™s out there, I see it as an opportunity. And Iā€™m doing allĀ I can to try to win. Itā€™s hugely important to me.ā€

More important to C.K. than the personal vindication that comes with winning, he says, is the public confirmation that his boss at FX did not make a gigantic mistake in greenlighting his show. ā€œI wantĀ the establishment to tellĀ John Landgraf that he did the right thing,Ā and that he should let me keep doing it. Thatā€™s what the Emmy is for me,ā€ he explained. ā€œIĀ personally donā€™t need it. Iā€™ve already won. It would also reward all of theĀ amazing crew people who work so hard making Louie what it is and maybe give the crew job security and Landgraf even moreĀ credibility.ā€
