More than you were probably expecting! According to the New York Times, Sony spent a fairly lavish sum of $10 million on the period stewardess drama starring Christina Ricci; while it doesn’t compare to the $18 million cost of Boardwalk Empire’s pilot (which was amortized by set costs spent over the whole season), it’s about as much as the effects-heavy, on-location pilot for Lost, and notably higher than most of the new fall shows. “We’re not going to spend like drunken fools, but it needs to look a certain way for ABC to be happy and advertisers to be happy and deliver great results for Sony,†said TV chief Steve Mosko.
