Terrence Malick is famous for how rarely he works as a director — he’s let decades pass in between making films — so what are we to make of his current run, which includes this year’s release of The Tree of Life, an IMAX spinoff of that movie’s birth-of-Earth sequence entitled Voyage of Time, another drama starring Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams that’s already in postproduction, and now yet another film, which will star Christian Bale and shoot early next year? (Even workaholics like Woody Allen and Steven Soderbergh should be impressed.) Twitch reports that the new movie will be an intimate drama and that actresses including Rooney Mara and Mia Wasikowska are vying for the female lead opposite Bale, whom Malick first worked with on The New World. Good luck to them all, and godspeed to the suddenly prolific Malick, who we expect will be announcing a guest gig helming Jimmy Kimmel Live in no time flat. [Twitch]
