Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord. And Revenge is all of yours, sayeth ABC. The network has been promoting the hell out of its Monte Cristo–tinged drama, which has gotten nearly twice the on-air promo time as Charlie’s Angels, the network’s second most promoted series. None of the other networks has quite the same level of promotional inequity: X Factor got 970 seconds of promo time since July 19 to New Girl’s 810; Up All Night had 710 to Whitney’s 570; Person of Interest got 450 to Unforgettable’s 410; but Revenge had 660 to Charlie’s Angels’ 355. (Also, jeez Louise, Fox.) Revenge, which stars Emily VanCamp and Madeline Stowe, fits in with ABC’s lady-geared sudsy shows better than the more action-oriented Charlie’s Angels, but just ask people from Lone Star or My Generation: Heavy promotion does not a hit make.
