See New York’s Behind-the-Scenes Photo Gallery of Bored to Death
Bored to Death kicks off its third season tonight (9 p.m. on HBO), and there’s something refreshing about seeing how Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis still join Jason Schwartzman for the jaunty detective show even though they clearly must be offered far more money to dump it for other projects. (Danson has said that he’ll continue with BtD even with his CSI gig.) The season begins with Jonathan Ames (Schwartzman) celebrating the release of his new book while pursuing more cases; Galifianakis’s Ray being allowed visits with the offspring of his sperm donation; and Danson’s George running his new Waverly Inn–type exclusive hangout, just to keep the Graydon Carter parallels going. New York Mag had a photographer on set for the show’s season finale for a story in this week’s issue, and Vulture has the outtakes. They were shooting in the dining room of Gramercy Park’s Players Club; click on to see George dressed as Don Quixote for a revue, while Danson’s real-life wife Mary Steenburgen looks on with the other members of the crime-solving trio.
