The HBO adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s 2001 novel The Corrections has picked up some steam. Deadline reports that Dianne Wiest and Chris Cooper are negotiating to play the leads, an elderly Midwestern couple dealing with his Parkinson’s disease while trying to connect with their three adult children (those roles are still being cast). Franzen cowrote the pilot with Noah Baumbach, who will direct, and though there’s no word yet on whether it will go to series, adding two Oscar winners to your cast isn’t a bad way to begin.
